The Terra Brantley Foundation, Inc. is partnering with Genesis Outreach to provide a one-time, non-renewable $1,500 Second Chance Scholarship to an adult, 19 years or older, who will be pursuing the completion of a college/university education and subsequent degree.

Applicants must provide a 600-word essay that describes obstacles they have overcome, including incarceration is applicable. Inclusion of jail time will not disqualify the applicant. The applicant must include their current life status and pursuits as well as future goals. Applicant must secure two recommendation letters from a non-relative such as a pastor, Genesis Outreach staff member, employer, etc. and provide current contact information for those who sign the letters. Once the scholarship is awarded, the recipient must provide proof of college/university acceptance and proof that they’re enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in an accredited college or university in Indiana.


The purpose of the Terra Brantley Foundation, is to empower low-income girls, women and minorities in Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio with educational, life-enriching and financial resources to help them pursue a degree in higher education at an accredited four year college or university and reinvest in their communities.

Recipient must also sign a written agreement to use all the funds at an Indiana college or university to which he/she has been accepted and be enrolled in a post-secondary two or four-year college degree program. Failure to do so will forfeit the scholarship. Upon such signed agreement, scholarship money in the amount of $500 will be awarded per semester, not to exceed three semesters for a total of $1,500. Funds will be directly sent to the Bursars office or applicable office at the college or university and will not be given or refunded to the scholarship recipient should they stop attending. If the recipient should choose to attend another Indiana college or university, they must notify the Board prior to transferring. Failure to do so will result in the recipient forfeiting the scholarship. The winner of the scholarship will be chosen by the Board of Directors of the Terra Brantley Foundation, Inc.
